Wiki

Yuka Tsuji Wiki

Tsuji currently fights in the Strawweight divison. She has fought in Smackgirl, Deep, IGF, Valkyrie, and JEWELS. Her background is in wrestling. Tsuji placed 3rd in Women's Freestyle wrestling at 51 kg in the 1997 Asian Championship. She holds notable victories over Saori Ishioka, Mei Yamaguchi, Seo Hee Ham and Tomomi Sunaba.

Tsuji started off her career with a huge upset over Ikuma Hoshino who at the time was one of the most accomplished WMMA fighters. That would be Hoshino's only loss in her career. Tsuji would enter Smackgirl's 2002 MW Japan Cup, she would win by defeating Mari Kaneko. After starting her career 12-1 Tsuji would fight Hisae Watanabe for the inaugural Smackgirl Lightweight title. Tsuji would win by armbar and go on to defend the title 5 times until the promotion folded. Tsuji then went on to debut at Valkyrie's first event where she beat Mei Yamaguchi. She would then go on to win the inaugural Valkyrie Featherweight title by submitting Kate Martinez. Riding a 14 fight win streak Tsuji would rematch Mei Yamaguchi, this time Yamaguchi won. This is considered to be one of the biggest upsets in WMMA history. Tsuji would need surgery on her shoulder and knee shortly after this fight.

When Tsuji recovered from her injury she went to fight in the JEWELS promotion. She defeated Saori Ishioka in her debut. She would then challenge Ayaka Hamasaki for the JEWELS Lightweight title, Tsuji lost by submission.
